Fall River bridge renamed in honor of long time city worker
FALL RIVER- Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver, in collaboration with area officials, came together Friday to rename the bridge used by traffic on Herman Street in honor of Ronald Costa.
Costa, who worked for the City of Fall River for 38 years, started his career as time clerk, then held other positions including foreman, and then Commissioner of the Department of Public Works. Costa retired in 1997 but went on to work as a Senior Aide for 10 years at the Niagara-Maplewood Senior Center and served on the Fall River Water Board. He also served on the Board of Directors for St. Anthony of Padua Credit Union for 60 years.
Costa passed away at age 82 on Sunday, July 30, 2017.
