Fall River Back-to-School Block Party to feature food trucks, free school supplies, basketball, music, games

(Fall River, Ma – Monday, August 14, 2023 – Fall River Public Schools is excited to participate in and announce the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Block Party. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 19th, at Kennedy Park from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Staff from all sixteen district schools, Parent Information Center, Human Resources, Early Childhood, and Transportation Departments will be in attendance and available to support students and their guardians to prepare for the 2023-2024 School Year.

Now in its third year, this free community event began in the summer of 2020 to cheer on participants of the Fall River Basketball Association Championships. It has since grown into a full-scale community event that attracted nearly two thousand people last year. according to Fall River Public Schools.

This year’s block party will also feature more than two dozen community partners and include:

· Free School Supplies (while supplies last)

· Food Trucks (onsite with food available for purchase)

· Basketball Championship

· Music

· Games

Superintendent Maria Pontes has challenged all staff and students to #showupFRPS.
