Fall River arrests on gun and drug charges leads to confession regarding city shooting
The Fall River Police Department made multiple arrests and received a confession in a city shooting.
According to police, on Thursday evening, members of the FRPD executed search warrants in the 200 block of Buffinton Street. The targets of the operation were 22-year-old Jesus Santana, 20-year-old Evan Januario, and 20-year-old Juliannah Medeiros.
Earlier on Friday, following a lengthy and thorough investigation by Major Case Detectives, an arrest warrant for Jesus Santana was obtained in connection to the May 9th shooting, during which Santana himself sustained gunshot wounds. MCD Detectives led the warrant effort, supported by CAST Detectives, who developed probable cause that an AR-style pistol was present in the residence, leading to search warrants being issued.
Thanks to intelligence gathered during the investigation, the Emergency Services Unit safely made entry and secured the occupants. All three targets were located and detained. During the coordinated search effort, involving MCD, CAST, NEET, ESU and the FBI Gang Task Force, authorities seized approx. 51g of crack cocaine, an AR-style pistol with a ‘ghost gun’ lower receiver, and .223 caliber ammunition
Crime Scene Unit Detectives documented the scene and took possession of the illegal firearm. Following the arrests, Detective Gauvin obtained a confession from Santana regarding his actions the night of the shooting.
Jesus Santana was charged with multiple firearms offenses and Attempted Assault & Battery by Firearm stemming from the 5/9 incident.
Evan Januario & Juliannah Medeiros were charged with Trafficking Cocaine Over 36g, Possession of a Firearm During a Felony, Unlicensed Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlicensed Possession of Ammunition, and additional firearms charges.
According to court records, at Friday’s arraignment, all three pled not guilty and were held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
