A man facing multiple charges concerning an alleged Fall River robbery was arraigned Friday in Fall River Superior Court.

According to Sergeant Ross Aubin, FRPD Patrol Bureau Officers along with members of the Fall River Police Department’s Community Action & Suppression Team, responded to a call regarding an armed robbery at 1501 Pleasant Street (Discount Food Mart).

The suspect was described as a black male wearing black pants and a black jacket and being in possession of a knife. While traveling on Pleasant Street, responding to the call, Detective Corey Dolan observed a male fitting the updated description, dressed in a black jacket and ski mask, walking quickly and behaving suspiciously.

As police sirens sounded, the man fled the scene, prompting a foot pursuit by the officers. Pursuing officers identified themselves multiple times and gave orders for the man to stop, all to no avail.

The suspect continued running through the North Rocliffe Apartment complex, where he was eventually located lying on the ground by Officer Kwin Silva and Detective Dolan. The suspect was detained without further incident, and a crumpled pile of money was found on the ground beside him.

The suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Tyrese Ray, was arrested for armed robbery and vandalizing property (3 counts).

According to court records, at Friday’s arraignment, Ray pled not guilty and was released on $500 bail.
