Fall River area instructor Tim Gillett of Gillett MMA falls ill, vows to recover and never quit

FALL RIVER, MA, TIVERTON, RI – Some troubling news has been released about a local business owner, but he vows to fight back.

According to a social media post, Sherry, Tim Gillett’s fiancé of Gillett MMA on Shove Street in Tiverton, revealed why he hasn’t been returning messages.

“He has not been feeling good the past couple months. We were supposed to go out on Sunday, but he wasn’t feeling well and began to vomit, and I found him lying on the bathroom floor. He remained there the night and was arguing with me to not call the ambulance. The next day I called the ambulance. 3 paramedics came and took him from the bedroom to the hospital. At the hospital he was incoherent and slurring. The hospital doctors immediately realized he had a stroke but ran a ton of tests leading up to the diagnosis. So, after the MRI, sadly we found out that he had 2 strokes. 1 big one on the right and 1 smaller on the left. Currently he can’t see every well and has lost some movement on his right side. (He is) under doctor supervision. He needs to stay here for more tests and he is resting. Sensei Tim wants to apologize for not returning calls or texts. He says he will never quit! He will recover with time. He respectfully doesn’t want any visitors….He said the school is open and please go train. Thank you.”

Gillett has over 30 years of experience in martial arts and has been an instructor focused on self-defense, training, and personal development for students of all ages.

Among the well-known local athletes associated with the gym are several regional champions and competitors including Aidan Lambert, a national kickboxing/Muay Thai champion, and Savannah Miranda, who captured a New England Amateur Muay Thai championship belt. Other rising local fighters and students who have trained or competed under Gillett include Elianna Wagner, Kenzie Rioux, and Kaylee Lane.
