Fall River approaching 600 cases of COVID-19 as Sunday update brings an increase in daily case count

Fall River has seen more confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

32 additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Fall River. This brings the total in Fall River to 586.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

As of Thursday, 205 cases have cleared isolation.

Cases jumped Monday as 34 cases were confirmed in addition to the city’s fourth death from the virus. Tuesday’s update revealed 37 more cases. Wednesday saw 36 additional cases and a fifth death was announced. Thursday the mayor announced 25 more COVID-19 cases. On Friday 24 more cases were identified along with the city’s sixth and seventh deaths due to the virus. Saturday’s COVID-19 update showed 21 new cases of the virus.

Governor Charlie Baker announced the extension of the state’s non-essential business closures and stay at-home advisory until May 18, 2020. Government Center will be closed to the public until this advisory is lifted.

The Mayor continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing. This means keeping a distance of 6 feet between individuals. Continue to wash your hands on a regular basis, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and stay home as much as possible, especially when you are sick. These measures will help to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The City of Fall River wants to remind residents that the Online Payments Center gives residents a way to pay bills online 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle Excise, Boat Excise Taxes and Public Utility payments are accepted. There is also a drop-off box on the Third Street Entrance of Government Center where residents can drop their payments in sealed envelopes.
