A Fall River animal shelter has taken in over a half dozen puppies due to poor living conditions and soon they can be yours.

On Friday, May 23rd, New Bedford Police Officer Daniel Duclos responded to Belleville Road to assist Animal Control after receiving a tip that puppies were being housed inside a vehicle.

Duclos and Animal Control Officer Manny Maciel located 8 six-week-old puppies inside the vehicle with the inside covered in feces. No water or food for the animals could be found.

Clesha Williams Phillips was charged with 8 counts of Animal Cruelty and was released on personal recognizance at her arraignment on Tuesday.

The puppies are currently being taken care of at Forever Paws. Fall River Reporter asked them for details on the pups.

-They’re lab/beagle mixes

-They are named after Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavors (current and retired)

-They’re projecting they will be about 50lbs full grown

-They’re still actively nursing from mom so aren’t available yet

-They will most likely be available in the next 3-4 weeks so they’re telling people to get their applications in NOW

-Pups will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date with any age-appropriate vaccines before adoptions are finalized.
