Fall River and Somerset residents come home with hardware after representing the USA at World Ball Hockey Championship in Slovakia
Some local residents took home some hardware after representing the United States against the world this week in sport.
Drake Manning Almeida (Somerset), Evan Barbosa (Swansea), Coach Tony Carreiro (Fall River) and Coach Eddie Costa (Fall River) represented the USA in the Under 18 Boys Junior ISBHF World Ball Hockey Championship in Zilina, Slovakia.
Ball hockey is similar to ice hockey, except the game is played on foot, not skates, on a non-ice surface, and with a ball instead of a puck.
The USA finished first in the group stage going undefeated in 5 games. They took on favorite Canada in the gold medal game and unfortunately didn’t come away with the win.
Manning Almeida led the USA in points with 4 goals and 5 assists through 6 games.
Congratulations Drake, Evan, Tony, and Eddie!
