Fairhaven woman dies from injuries sustained in crash; appears to be tragic accident
A woman that was injured in a pedestrian crash in Fairhaven last week has died.
On the evening of February 28th, responders arrived for a pedestrian versus vehicle collision on Sconticut Neck Road.
The pedestrian, 81-year-old Carolyn Preece of Fairhaven, was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Preece died this weekend in the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim is a 67-year-old Fairhaven woman. Charges have not been filed.
Miliote stated that the driver was not impaired by drugs or alcohol, did not have a cell phone on her, and remained on scene.
The victim was not in a cross walk, was wearing dark clothing and visibility was poor at the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, but Miliote said that this appears to be a tragic accident.
