Evening crash with injuries shuts down Route 79, causes power outage
A crash Tuesday evening resulted in injuries, a snapped utility pole, a road shut down, and a power outage.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department, the call came in just before 7:00 p.m. for a car into the woods on Route 79, near the Taunton line in Lakeville.
Responders arrived to find the occupant still in the vehicle; a utility pole had snapped and power lines on the ground.
Police closed the road down to isolate the hazards created by the crash.
Lakeville ambulance transported one patient to St. Luke’s Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be serious.
Lakeville Engine 1 remained on scene until utility crews mitigated the hazards and the vehicle was retrieved from the woods.
Off duty firefighters were called to assist with the response and cover the rest of the Town.
The crash is under investigation.
