Elderly woman fatally struck by vehicle while standing in her driveway just miles from Massachusetts, Rhode Island border
Authorities say that an elderly Massachusetts woman was struck and killed while in her driveway just a few miles from the Massachusetts and Rhode Island border.
According to police, at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon the Douglas Police Department received numerous 911 calls reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the area of 93 West Street.
Upon arrival Officers located an elderly female in the roadway at the corner of West Street and Johnson Court. The victim was treated at the scene and immediately transported to Harrington Hospital in Webster where she succumbed to her injuries.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was at the end of her driveway when she was struck by a 2013 Honda CRV traveling northwest on West Street.
A full investigation is being conducted by the Douglas Police Department and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit.
