A Massachusetts man has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses after police responded to a report of a subject attempting to gain entry into a local home and, after failing to do so, stealing a package from the porch.

According to Freetown Police Lieutenant Steven Abbot, 42-year-old Hovanne Dolarian, of Taunton, was charged with attempt to commit a crime, larceny and resisting arrest.

On Friday just before 10:00 p.m., Freetown police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person that had attempted to gain entry into a North Main Street home. The reporting party’s home surveillance video revealed that a male subject had attempted to gain entry into the home through a locked door, and, after failing to do so, walked to a front porch where he took possession of an Amazon package before leaving the scene in a vehicle.

Freetown Sergeant Scott Rose and Patrolman Thomas Ashley responded to the scene. A review of the video provided officers with a description of the suspect and vehicle. Within minutes, the suspect was observed operating the vehicle near the scene. When stopped by police, the driver, later identified as Dolarian, refused to identify himself and resisted arrest. During the apprehension, police recovered the Amazon package from the vehicle.

Dolarian was booked at the Freetown police station where bail was set. He was then transported to the Bristol County House of Correction prior to his arraignment at the Fall River Justice Center.
