Driver injured, home uninhabitable, after vehicle plows into house in Plymouth County
A weekend crash has left a home severely damaged and a driver injured.
According to Fire Chief Jack Glynn, at just after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Abington Fire Alarm was notified of a motor vehicle into a house at 200 High Street.
Abington Ambulance 1 and Engine 4 were already enroute to a medical emergency. Engine 4 diverted to the accident and struck a box for multiple calls, dispatching the second ambulance.
Upon arrival, crews found a large SUV entered, 3/4 of the way into the left side of the home. The occupants of the home were able to evacuate safely without any injuries.
There was one occupant in the SUV and that person was transported to South Shore Hospital, with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries.
There was extensive damage to the home. The Building Inspector confirmed the house is uninhabitable. The Wiring Inspector responded to secure electrical components of the building and work with National Grid. BCI and The Water Department were also called to the scene.
Abington Fire cleared the scene at 11:25 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Abington Police Department.
