Driver cited in Fall River crash that knocked out power to hundreds, businesses
A driver has been cited after a crash knocked out power to businesses and residents in Fall River’s South End.
According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 12:15 p.m., units responded to the area of 44 William S. Canning Blvd. in response to a motor vehicle collision.
It was reported that a white pickup truck had struck a utility pole causing a local power outage and significant damage to at least one telephone pole.
Upon arrival, the investigating officer learned that the pickup truck was traveling north on William S. Canning Boulevard when it suddenly veered off the roadway and struck a telephone pole causing a widespread power outage in the area.
The operator of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries in the accident. He was cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
