Driver cited in collision that injured Fall River police officer on motorcycle
More details have been released concerning a Fall River police officer injured while on his motorcycle.
According to police, this past weekend, an officer, while traveling safely between cultural processions with lights and sirens activated, collided with a vehicle that slowed in the roadway then attempted to turn left into a parking lot, blocking the motorcycle from passing.
The department states that the officer suffered a few broken bones and bruises, but is eager to return to work.
The department stated that due to recent motorcycle training, the officer was able to react quickly and minimize the impact, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries rather than something far worse.
As a result of witness statements and accident reconstruction, the operator of the other motor vehicle was cited for Obstructing an Emergency Vehicle and Unsafe Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
