Driver charged, victim transported to hospital after collision between van and pedestrian in Fall River
A woman has been transported to the hospital after a pedestrian collision on Monday.
According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, Uniform Division Officers responded to the area of 82 Hartwell Street just after 7:45 p.m. due to reports of a woman lying in the roadway.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a female pedestrian had been struck by what is being described as a work van while crossing the street.
The male operator of the van remained at the scene stating that due to the rainy conditions at the time of the crash he did not see the woman in the roadway.
Castro stated that the incident is still under investigation, however it has been determined that the operator of the van is unlicensed and will at least be facing that charge.
The female was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Everyone is in a hurry. It takes just a couple of seconds to stop and let someone cross. By making that small sacrifice of time, it will save yourself and them a lot of misery.

Gary I believe you are correct. Pedestrian accidents seems much more common all over in most States. Today’s vehicles have too many distractions and are getting so technically orientated that even just changing the radio, temp or gps is more complicated than it should be in newer cars. Some of our drivers, myself included, are getting along in age you must must think carefully with every move.

And pedestrians are distracted by their phones and such.

No need to go over 30mph in any city. See it all the time. Ridiculous already
