Donut shop owner involved in lawsuit against New Bedford donut shop arrested on First Degree Sexual Assault
The owner of a well-known donut shop is facing disturbing allegations.
According to Rhode Island State Police, at just after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Troopers arrested 54-year-old Valdemar Leite of Saunderstown, RI on a Newport County Superior Court Bench Warrant for First Degree Sexual Assault.
The arrest was the result of a Barracks investigation completed by Troopers and subsequently locating the suspect.
Leite was transported to the State Police Wickford Barracks where he was processed and later arraigned at Superior Court.
Police did not release further details.
According to WJAR 10, Leite is an owner of Ma’s Donuts in Middletown, RI and was involved in a trademark lawsuit with Ma’s Donuts in New Bedford of the same name in 2021.
Leite pleaded not guilty to the charges.
