Donation will help responders save the lives of pets at Fall River fire scenes
Fall River has received some good news in helping responders save the lives of pets.
According to a correspondence from the union, Fall River Firefighters Local 1314 is presenting the donation of 7 complete sets of specialized pet oxygen mask kits to the Fall River Fire Department, through the City of Fall River.
The Union Executive Board states that “each kit contains 7 individually sized masks designed to fit the snout or mouth of domestic animals ranging from small kittens to large dogs such as Great Danes. These masks are specifically engineered to administer life-saving oxygen to pets suffering from smoke inhalation or respiratory distress due to fire or other emergencies.”
The equipment is being provided at no cost to the Department or the City.
The donation can be accepted and utilized with approval by the City Council.
The union believes that the masks will help save pets.
“As firefighters, we encounter countless situations where animals are victims alongside their human companions. With these masks now available, we will be better equipped to save the lives of our community’s beloved pets.”
