District Attorney: 19-year-old driver strikes 83-year-old pedestrian, killing him

The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and Walpole Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred this afternoon on Washington Street.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m., when an 83-year-old Walpole man was struck by an SUV as he was attempting to cross the street, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.

The pedestrian was transported by the Walpole Fire Department to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver, a 19-year-old woman, remained at the scene.

No charges were immediately filed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Walpole Detective Bureau and Crash Reconstruction Team and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.
