A local dirt bike rider is reportedly facing a list of charges in Fall River court.

According to police, on Tuesday, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Freetown Police officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop of an unregistered dirt bike operating eastbound on East Howland Road. The dirt bike, which did not display license plates, was observed traveling at approximately 60 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.

The dirt bike then approached the Chace Road railroad crossing, where warning lights and safety arms were activated for a passing MBTA train. Instead of stopping, the operator turned south onto the railroad right-of-way, riding along the tracks as the train passed.

A hold was placed on all train traffic in the area as the pursuing officer engaged in a foot chase when the operator left the roadway and entered the railroad right-of-way. Additional Freetown officers responded, and following a thorough search of the area, the subject was located on an adjacent trail and taken into custody without incident.

The operator was identified as a juvenile, whose name is not being released. The juvenile was arrested and is facing multiple charges including:

• Reckless operation of a motor vehicle

• Failure to stop for police

• Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle

• Operating an uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle

• Speeding

• Stop sign violation

• Marked lanes violation

• Trespassing on railroad property

The juvenile is scheduled to appear in Fall River Juvenile Court on Wednesday.
