Diman student receives standing ovation at Boston Celtics game as Heroes Among Us honoree

FALL RIVER, MA – The accolades continue to come in, and rightfully so, for a Fall River student.
According to Diman Regional, Ben Courville, a Diman sophomore and carpentry student, received a standing ovation at this weekend’s Celtics game as a Heroes Among Us honoree.
The Dighton Fire Department stated in late June that the Dighton Junior Firefighters candidate was out to dinner at the Fall River 99 Restaurant with his mom Christine Courville when he noticed that a girl was choking.
Ben, who is from Somerset, approached the girl and asked if she was choking. She nodded her head yes and Ben performed the Heimlich Maneuver on her and dislodged the obstruction.
The girl’s mom was extremely thankful for Ben’s actions. Ben’s mother, and the Dighton Fire Department were also proud.
“The Dighton Junior Firefighters and the Dighton Fire Department are extremely PROUD of your actions today, Ben Courville. Notifications like this is what makes the time and effort that ALL of the Dighton Junior Firefighters Instructors devote to these young men and women well worth it.”
During his unforgettable visit to TD Garden, Ben got a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium, including a stop at the carpentry shop.
Ben late last year received the Junior First Responder award from the First Responders Children’s Foundation during National First Responders Day at Times Square in New York City.
