Diman Regional Culinary Arts students take home 2nd place in worldwide competition held at Epcot in Florida
FALL RIVER/SOMERSET/SWANSEAA/WESTPORT, MA – Diman Culinary students put their time off to good use, taking home second place in a worldwide competition.
According to Diman, during April break, Diman’s Culinary Arts students traveled to Walt Disney World to compete in the “Cook Around the World” Culinary Improv competition at Epcot, going up against 750 students from 25 high schools from around the world.
Given a mystery basket with a protein and two surprise ingredients, the team prepared a delicious, spiced tomato and pepper soup from Africa called Shakshuka, served with bread. For the entrée, they created African pork medallions with a couscous and okra salad, plus seasoned pan-roasted potatoes.
The event allowed participants to hear from top colleges and universities about career options in the culinary and hospitality field and gives students the chance to learn and hear from top celebrity chefs like Maneet Chauhan.
Congratulations to seniors Katie Miranda, Cameron Bell, Jayden Garrett, and Marcella Thomas for their accomplishment!
