FALL RIVER/WESTPORT/SOMERSET/SWANSEA – Some say that the younger generation has no work ethic. They likely haven’t met Westport’s Corey Gaspar yet. Oh, by the way, he’s incredibly smart too.

Gaspar is many things. He is a successful Diman senior in the Programming and Web Development program, a historian for Diman’s Chapter of Business Professionals of America, an Information Technology Intern at RYCOMM LLC, and what may be most impressive, 8 credits away from a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Southern New Hampshire University with a 4.0 GPA.

In case you need reminding, he is still in high school. His accomplishments are impressive and quite frankly makes me a little tired just reading them.

In his spare time (it is amazing he has any) he enjoys making websites and playing video games.

Gaspar states that he has technical expertise in programming languages like C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, and web technologies including HTML and CSS. In addition, he has strong skills in website design, problem-solving, computer hardware, 3D modeling, and proficiency with tools like Excel and Tableau.

Gaspar told Fall River Reporter why he is passionate about computer science.

“I am passionate about writing code to solve problems because it gives me the tools to break down complex challenges and create effective solutions.”

Corey would like to become a software developer when he graduates from college.

Congratulations Corey! We know you will do great things!
