Diman Assistant Superintendent-Principal submits letter of resignation
An award-winning educator in Fall River has submitted his resignation.
Andrew Rebello has announced he is stepping down as Assistant Superintendent-Principal at Diman Regional for a new position.
Rebello’s work with the school landed the Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association High School Principal of the Year. He also was recognized with the prestigious Milken Educator Award.
His submitted letter is as follows.
Dear Diman Community,
With immense pride in what we have accomplished together and with profound gratitude, I submit my letter of resignation as the Assistant Superintendent-Principal, effective September 3, 2024. I have accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent at Bristol Plymouth Technical High School, a new opportunity I feel compelled to pursue.
Since assuming this role on March 3, 2020, I have had the privilege of serving alongside an exceptional team of educators, staff, and students. Since the start of the pandemic, together, we have navigated unprecedented challenges and emerged stronger, more resilient, and more focused on our shared mission of excellence.
The past four years have witnessed unparalleled success for our school. U.S. News & World Report has recognized our school as one of the best high schools in the nation three times in the past four years—an achievement that has never been accomplished before in our school’s history.
According to the Department of Education’s accountability scores, we were rated as the highest-performing high school in Greater Fall River. As a vocational technical high school, our performance is particularly significant. It stands as a testament to the remarkable efforts of our students and staff, who need to cover the same curriculum in 90 days compared
to the 180 days of our comprehensive counterparts.
Achieving a 98% graduation rate, the highest in school history, is another highlight that speaks volumes about our entire school community’s dedication, perseverance, and hard work. The past four years have been, statistically and arguably, the best in our school’s history—a legacy that belongs to every student, teacher, staff member, and parent who has walked
these halls with commitment, passion, and belief in the Diman Way.
I want to express my deepest appreciation to the students, staff, and the entire Diman community for allowing me to be part of such an extraordinary journey. Our Life-Ready mission has changed thousands of lives and will continue growing Diman students for years to come. Though I am excited about the new challenges and opportunities that await me at
Bristol Plymouth, my heart will never close on the Diman community. It will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will forever cherish the memories and relationships I have built here.
Thank you for your support and guidance throughout my tenure. I wish the school community continued success in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Andrew D. Rebello
Assistant Superintendent-Principal
