Despite rescue efforts, man dead after possible drowning, Bristol County DA releases name of victim
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III announced a fatality that occurred Tuesday in Fairhaven.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., Fairhaven Police and EMS received a 911 call regarding a possible drowning at Seaview Avenue in Fairhaven in the area of the boat ramp.
Upon arrival, first responders were directed to a man, identified as 77-year-old Wayne Silveira of Acushnet, who was located unconscious at the boat ramp after being pulled out of the water. A civilian was providing CPR on scene. Silveira was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
This matter is not considered suspicious and will be investigated by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Fairhaven Police Department.
