Despite being shorthanded, Fall River Police win competition while raising money for Special Olympics
Despite being shorthanded, members of the Fall River Police Department competed well all while raising money for Special Olympics.
On Saturday, members of the Department competed in the Mansfield Fire Truck Pull which raised money to support the Massachusetts Special Olympics.
The FRPD team was constructed on short notice, and they participated with only nine participants instead of the twelve allowed on the roster.
Despite being shorthanded, their team placed in the top 3 among all divisions.
The FRPD ultimately participated in the Top Dog Pull where they recruited three additional participants to fill their roster. One who happened to be a city employee, and her two children. In this event, the team was challenged to pull a Ladder truck of 35,000 lbs. With the help of the additional team members, they were able to achieve 1st place in the Top Dog Pull.
The team raised $1330 for the Massachusetts Special Olympics which ranked them third in overall donations despite the smaller team and short notice.
