Department announces unexpected passing of Taunton Firefighter who served in United States Navy

A Bristol County man who served the community in multiple capacities has died.

The Taunton Fire Department announced with profound sadness the unexpected passing of Firefighter Kyle Machado on Friday.

Before joining the Taunton Fire Department, Kyle proudly served his country as part of the United States Navy for 8 years.

His commitment to service continued as he dedicated himself to protecting and serving the Taunton community as a firefighter. He joined the Taunton Fire Department on April 13th, 2026.

Machado leaves behind a wife and young children.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be finalized.

An online fundraiser has been created for the Machado family.

A cause of death was not released.
