Dartmouth schools to increase police presence in response to Uvalde school shooting
Dartmouth has announced that there will be an additional police presence at the town’s schools.
According to Dartmouth Police Chief Brian Levesque, in response to the recent tragic event in Uvalde, Texas, the members of the Dartmouth Police Department, along with School Resource Officers, have decided to increase the presence of police at the various Dartmouth schools for the remainder of the school year.
“Though no local threats have been received, this decision was made out of an abundance of caution for both the physical and mental well-being of the students, parents, and staff alike.”
Levesque stated that because school security falls under the purview of the school department, PD has always worked closely with them to ensure the safety of students.
“We strongly encourage you to stay involved by sharing your opinions and ideas not only with them, but also with us, on how we can collectively build upon our exemplary safety record. It goes without saying, that the safety of Dartmouth’s children is our top priority!”
