Dartmouth Police arrest Fall River juvenile after hit and run accident with stolen vehicle
DARTMOUTH, MA – Police have arrested a Fall River teen after an incident on Route 6.
According to Dartmouth Police, on Friday, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Officer Clifford Merchant was dispatched to Matty Lane after Dartmouth Police received a call associated with a hit and run crash on State Road.
According to the calling party/victim, after their 2016 Toyota Avalon had been struck from behind by a 2011 Hyundai Elantra on State Road, they were able to follow the vehicle to Matty Lane, where it struck a tree.
Upon his arrival, Officer Merchant learned that the operator of the Hyundai was a juvenile female from Fall River, and that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Fall River on October 7, 2023.
Because the juvenile female had sustained a minor injury to her face as a result of the crash, she was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where she received treatment.
After a clerk magistrate was informed of the arrest, the juvenile was released to her mother.
As a result of this incident, the juvenile female was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of drugs, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
