Dartmouth Police arrest 3 Boston teens in connection with motor vehicle break-in, credit card fraud
DARTMOUTH, MA-According to a release, on October 12th, at approximately 9:23 a.m., the Dartmouth Police Department responded to Walgreens, located at 495 State Road, for a reported breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.
Upon arrival, Officer Nicholas Barnes met with the victim, who reported that his vehicle had been broken into overnight. Several items were stolen, including the victim’s wallet and multiple credit cards.
The victim later discovered that one of his stolen credit cards had been used at Walgreens to purchase approximately $1800 in Visa gift cards. Officer Barnes observed three male suspects using the stolen credit card to make the fraudulent purchase while reviewing the store’s security footage.
Shortly after clearing the initial call, Officer Barnes and other Dartmouth Police officers responded to the campus of UMass Dartmouth to assist the UMass Dartmouth Police Department with a trespassing incident. During the response, Officer Barnes recognized three individuals involved in the trespassing call as the same suspects seen on the Walgreen’s security footage.
All three suspects were taken into custody without incident. Property belonging to the original victim was recovered from one of the suspects.
The suspects were identified and charged as follows:
· 18-year-old Raudy Ramirez-Valdez of Boston, MA charged with the following:
o Receiving stolen property over $1200
o Credit card fraud over $1200
o Conspiracy to commit credit card fraud
o Person under 21 in possession of liquor
· 19-year-old Emmanuel Joseph of Boston, MA charged with the following:
o Trespassing
o Credit card fraud over $1200
o Conspiracy to commit credit card fraud
· 19-year-old Musa Fofana of Boston, MA charged with the following:
o Trespassing
o Credit card fraud under $1200
o Conspiracy to commit credit card fraud
All three suspects were transported to the Dartmouth Police Department for booking. After the booking process was complete, all three suspects were transported to New Bedford District Court for arraignment.
According to court records, Fofana, Joseph, and Ramirez-Valdez all pled not guilty and were released on personal recognizance.
