Dartmouth man killed, Acushnet officer injured, in gunfire exchange in Fairhaven
A Dartmouth man has died after exchanging gunfire with police on Friday.
According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, 55-year-old Paul Coderre had been drinking with friends at Bayside Lounge on 125 Sconticut Neck Road in Fairhaven at about 5:00 p.m.
There was an altercation inside the lounge that led to Coderre going outside. He attempted to get into a vehicle and was stopped.
Police responded to the scene and discovered that Coderre was in possession of a firearm. Officers attempted to deescalate the situation, according to Quinn. Attempts were also made to use non-deadly force, but they were unsuccessful.
At some point, Coderre fired his gun. Police returned fire, killing Coderre.
An Acushnet officer was shot in the leg in the exchange but has since been treated and released from the hospital.
Fairhaven and Mattapoisett police also responded to the scene.
Quinn stated that Coderre was a former New Bedford District Fire Chief.

This is why handguns and assault rifles need to be banned – and I’m totally willing to include taking weapons from police so they can’t kill unarmed minorities as well.

Barack you’re are one insane person. I suggest moving to Canada their values and laws align much more with yours.

Laws dont prevent criminals from owning guns. Please, I beg you, do not reproduce. Your IQ is too low.
