Dartmouth Fire Department responds to late night lightning strike at residence
Local crews responded late Saturday night to a lightning strike at a home.
According to Dartmouth Fire District 1, at just before midnight, DFD1 was dispatched to a lightning strike on Meadow Shores Drive. Due to the ongoing closure of the Padanaram Bridge, E3 stationed temporarily on the west side of the causeway responded immediately along with E1, E2 and Tower 1 from headquarters.
Upon arrival, crews found a residential structure filling with smoke on multiple levels. Mutual aid was called in from DFD3 to cover the east side of the district while crews were committed to the fire scene. Due to the quick work of firefighters, they were able to isolate and contain fire damage to the area of the kitchen and prevent further fire spread.
While crews were still on the scene of the structure fire, E1 was re-dispatched to assist medics with a cardiac arrest.
