A Bristol County traffic stop for window tint led to a drug trafficking charge.

According to Massachusetts State Police, shortly after 3:30 a.m. Friday, Trooper William Rolls, assigned to State Police-Foxboro, was traveling on Elm Street in North Attleboro when he observed a white Jeep SUV drive past him in the opposite direction. As it passed Trooper Rolls, he observed extremely dark window tint on all windows, including the windshield, then reversed direction and initiated a traffic stop.

After the vehicle came to a full stop, Trooper Rolls approached it and identified the operator as 29-year-old Derrel Graham of Roxbury. After informing Graham why he was stopped, Trooper Rolls tested the window tint and confirmed it to be 8% transparency, below the legal limit of 35%. Due to the extremely dark window tint on the windshield and front side windows Trooper Rolls determined the vehicle could not be safely driven at night and requested a tow truck to respond for removal of the Jeep from the roadway. Prior to the Jeep being loaded on to the tow truck, Trooper Rolls conducted an inventory of its contents. During the inventory Troopers located a bag containing a large amount of a substance suspected to be crack cocaine, later weighed with a combined total of approximately 360 grams.

Graham was placed under arrest and transported to the Foxboro Barracks for booking. A bail commissioner was contacted and set bail at $100,000. He was scheduled for arraignment at Attleboro District Court on the charges of Trafficking in Cocaine, Unsafe Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Illegal Window Tint.

To bad the officer was not given the right to search his vehicle and during the inventory of a vehicle if narcotics are found the officer has to apply for a search warrant which would obviously be granted but if he did not apply for a search warrant and just decided to charge the man then dude will walk on the charges any half a** lawyer could make that happen
