Crews respond to fiery crash on golf course on Route 6 in Dartmouth
DARTMOUTH, MA – Crews responded to a fiery crash on Route 6 this morning.
According to Dartmouth Police, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Dartmouth Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on State Road near the New Bedford Country Club.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 2015 Nissan Altima registered to an individual out of Tiverton, R.I. fully engulfed in flames on the golf course.
Because there were no occupants in the vehicle when officers arrived on scene, both a Dartmouth Police K-9 and a Dartmouth Police drone were deployed to check the area, with negative results.
As the vehicle had severed a utility pole prior to crashing into the golf course, numerous low hanging wires caused State Road, between Slocum Road and Hathaway Road, to be closed to all traffic.
In an update, Officer Andrew Fredette has successfully tracked down the female operator of the vehicle at a local motel.
Charges against the female will be forthcoming.
At the time of this release, the crash remains under investigation.
