Crews rescue pets in three alarm Fall River fire, resident injured, one pet deceased
Crews rescued pets during a heavy fire in Fall River on Thursday that also injured a resident.
Just before 4:30 p.m. a call came into dispatch for a kitchen fire at 1926 Rodman Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames and smoke on the second floor that had spread to the third floor of the 3 story 6 family structure.
It was initially believed that a person was trapped in the blaze, however, that was determined to not be the case.
According to Fire Chief Roger St. Martin, there was substantial damage to the 2nd floor, 3rd floor and attic and water damage to the 1st floor. St. Martin credited personnel for the job they did fighting a well-involved 6 family fire.
1 resident of the home suffered from minor injuries.
Despite great effort to save the pets inside of the home, 1 pet was lost in the fire.
The Red Cross will be aiding 12 people that are displaced including children.
The Somerset Fire Department provided station coverage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
