Crash off of Route 24 exit ramp sends woman to the hospital
A 21 year old Portsmouth woman was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after crashing her vehicle while traveling on Route 24.
According to Portsmouth Police, the accident happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. A resident of Statue Way reported hearing a loud noise that sounded like a motor vehicle crash. Officers found the driver alert. The Portsmouth Fire Department responded and used the “Jaws of Life” to extract the female driver.
The investigation revealed that the driver was traveling south on the off ramp on Route 24 near West Main Road when she lost control, collided with a guard rail and rolled over and down an embankment near Patriot Park
The woman was brought to a local hospital as a precaution.
