A 47-year-old Massachusetts man convicted of seven counts of child rape was handed a sentence of decades in state prison during a hearing in Brockton Superior Court, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced.

David Johnson Jr. of Pembroke was found guilty on four counts of aggravated rape of a child and three counts of rape of a child, following a six-day jury trial. Judge William Ritter imposed a term of 30 to 38 years behind bars. Upon release, Johnson will face three years of probation, mandatory sex offender registration, a risk assessment, and treatment program participation. He is barred from contact with his victims, unsupervised interactions with children under 16, and any jobs or volunteer roles involving minors. Additionally, he must wear a GPS monitor and adhere to designated exclusion zones.

The case stemmed from a May 2021 investigation by Pembroke Police after multiple victims came forward, revealing a pattern of assaults spanning decades. Johnson has consistently denied the allegations since the probe began.

“I’m deeply proud of these survivors for sharing their stories and collaborating with our team to secure this outcome,” Cruz said. “Their courage amid profound trauma exemplifies their resilience, and I hope this sentence delivers the closure they deserve.

“The investigation was led by Pembroke Police, with prosecution handled by Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Beth Kusmin.
