Contractor from Fall River accused of cashing check for $25,000 for work that was never done
A local contractor is facing a charge that he allegedly accepted money for work that was never done.
54-year-old Lawrence F. Westgate from Fall River was arraigned Thursday in Stoughton District Court on a charge of Larceny Over $1,200 By False Pretense.
Westgate pleaded not guilty and was released.
According to NBC 10 Boston, Westgate is accused of accepting and cashing $25,000 from a Stoughton nurse for a backyard pool project that was never started in March of 2021.
Others have expressed similar experiences on social media concerning Westgate.
NBC 10 Boston also reported that Westgate filed for bankruptcy.
Westgate has a pretrial hearing in the case which is scheduled for late January.
