A Connecticut man has been charged in connection with a November 2025 multi-vehicle crash on Route 190 that killed a Massachusetts driver.
According to Connecticut State Police, 65-year-old Donald Chairamonte of West Haven was arrested this week on charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to grant right of way. The charges stem from a collision that occurred on November 7th, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. near 23 Main Street in Somers.
According to the Connecticut State Police affidavit, Chairamonte was operating a 1985 Chevrolet K10 pickup and was pulling out of a residential driveway onto Route 190 (Main Street) when he entered the westbound lane. His truck collided with the right front of a westbound 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by 50-year-old Christian Nolan of Massachusetts.
The impact redirected Nolan’s vehicle into the eastbound lane, where it struck a Chrysler Voyager minivan. The minivan continued into the front lawn of a nearby property and hit a mailbox.
Nolan was found in the roadway and received CPR at the scene before being airlifted to Hartford Hospital. He was pronounced dead on November 12th, 2025. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner listed the cause of death as complications of blunt trauma of the head, neck, and torso, with the manner of death ruled a motor vehicle crash.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Nolan was a devoted husband, loving father of two, and cherished friend to many.
Investigators from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad determined that Chairamonte failed to yield the right of way while entering the roadway, encroaching approximately 3 feet 8 inches into the westbound lane. Post-collision inspections found no mechanical defects in any of the three vehicles that contributed to the crash. The affidavit notes that Nolan was not wearing a seatbelt, which may have contributed to the severity of his injuries.
Chairamonte declined medical attention at the scene. A judge signed the arrest warrant on October 20th, 2026, and he was taken into custody in Tolland on Thursday.
Following arrest processing, Chairamonte was released on a Promise to Appear, ordered by a Rockville Superior Court. Chairamonte is scheduled for arraignment at Rockville Superior Court, on November 3rd, 2026.
