Community rallying around family after 15-year-old Mass. teen critically injured after being struck on highway
A 15-year-old Massachusetts boy was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle Sunday evening.
According to Police Chief Joseph Perkins and Fire Chief Owen Thompson, Middleborough Police received multiple calls at 7:23 p.m. that a young male was struck by a car on East Grove Street (Route 28) in front of Hannaford’s supermarket.
Upon arrival, police found an injured 15-year-old male. He was treated at the scene and taken by medical helicopter to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was cooperating with police.
It has been revealed that the victim is Middleboro High School freshman Dylan Levesque.
Dylan reportedly sustained significant injuries and at this time is still in critical condition. His mother Chelsea is by his side and will not be able to work while she is caring for him. Due to this, the community has created a Facebook group called “Fundraiser for the Levesque family” in addition to a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the family with expenses.
The crash is under investigation by the Middleborough Police Department. The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section is assisting at the scene.
