Community coming together to support family of Somerset infant facing significant health challenges with a smile

Despite all that she is facing, a Somerset baby is still managing to smile in the face of such adversity.

According to a family member, Harper, who isn’t even a year old, is fighting severe heart failure at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she has been for almost 2 months.

After showing some good signs of progress, she unfortunately suffered major setbacks this week when doctors tried to wean her off a critical medication. Her medical team has now started a maximum-dose medication combination. If this doesn’t work, the next steps are incredibly heavy. Harper faces intensive scans, open-heart surgery, or potentially being placed on a heart-and-lung pump and added to the pediatric heart transplant list.

Her parents are by her side every day through it all, and her siblings Emma, Larry, and Raya are being cared for by their grandfather while the family navigates this difficult time. Harper’s mom and dad have had to leave work to support her,

To help her family cover the immense medical costs associated with her ongoing care, local community members have rallied together to organize a major public fundraiser.

“Ride for Harper: Motorcycle Benefit Bike Run” will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at American Legion Post 121 (80 Myricks St, Berkley, MA 02779). The event is rain or shine.
