Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal dirt bike crash in Wareham.

Saturday, at just after 12:30 p.m., Wareham Police received a 911 call for a report of a single dirt bike crash at a motocross track located at 131 Atwood Farm Way.

Wareham Police, Fire, and emergency personnel responded and found 14-year-old Colby Lippincott of Sandwich with serious injuries. He was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where he was pronounced deceased.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created to come together and support the Lippincott family.

According to an obituary, Colby “was a diligent Honors student at Sandwich Middle High School where he excelled in Engineering, Math & Science. His teacher’s voted him as “Most Likely to Break a World Record”. His passions included baseball, golf, and all adventure sports: dirt biking, mountain biking, atving, snowmobiling and skiing. He loved going fishing with his dad and brother Tyler, gaming with friends and sampling homemade sweets made with love by Gy. He is a member of the Fraternus brotherhood at Corpus Christi Parish and actively volunteered for community projects: whether it was planting flowers, raking leaves or painting murals. Colby will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, passionate beliefs, and bright spirit. He was a loyal friend, a protective brother, respectful son, and the light of many lives.”

Visiting hours will be held at the Nickerson Funeral Home located at 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm. A Catholic Mass will take place at Corpus Christi Parish located at 324 Quaker Meeting House Road, East Sandwich MA on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11am. All are welcome to attend.

A scholarship fund has also been created to honor Colby’s memory. Donations can be sent to the Town of Sandwich, Attn: Treasurer, The Colby Lippincott Memorial Scholarship Fund at 100 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA 02563 or sandwichmass.org.

The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
