Coast Guard, local agencies recover body of man overboard
According to U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boston, Coast Guard and local partners recovered the body Sunday of a missing man near Peddocks Island after falling from the Provincetown II ferry.
Massachusetts State Police divers pulled the 21-year-old male from the water at approximately 1 a.m.
Emergency dispatchers contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston at approximately 8:30 p.m., Saturday, to report the man overboard and request assistance.
“The maritime environment is inherently dangerous,” said Lt. j.g. Lucy Daghir, a watch stander at Coast Guard Sector Boston. “We would like to remind the public to maintain situational awareness and exercise caution while on the water.”
Crews searched approximately 14 nautical miles.
