At least 1 Walgreens location will be closing in Fall River.

Late last year according to NBC, Walgreens Pharmacy announced plans to close up to 1,200 “underperforming stores” by 2027.

According to CNBC data, approximately one-quarter of Walgreens’ 8700 locations were considered “unprofitable” by the company and could close.

The pharmacy stated that “increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures are weighing on our ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing, and supply needs.”

According to an announcement by the pharmacy to customers, the Walgreens location at 933 Pleasant Street in Fall River will permanently close on February 26th, 2025.

Rumor has it that the staff at the Pleasant Street location will be working at the Plymouth Avenue spot.

Fall River also has Walgreens locations on Rhode Island Avenue and South Main Street.
