Citywide parking ban announced for Fall River on Sunday

A citywide parking ban has been announced for Fall River.

PARKING BAN DETAILS

Effective: Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM through Monday, January 19, 2026 at 10:00 AM

PARKING RULES DURING THE BAN

Parking IS allowed:

• On the north side of streets that run east–west

• On the west side of streets that run north–south

• (In most cases, this means no parking on the fire hydrant side)

Parking IS NOT allowed:

• Within 20 feet of any corner

• Against a traffic median

• Anywhere otherwise posted as No Parking

On streets divided by a traffic median, parking is allowed unless posted on both sides — just not against the median itself.

TOW INFORMATION

Vehicles in violation may be towed to clear streets.

To locate a towed vehicle, call FRPD – 508-676-8511

All towing and storage fees must be paid directly to the tow company prior to release.

AVAILABLE PARKING LOCATIONS

Parking is available at the following locations until the ban is lifted:

• Flint Municipal Parking Lot – Cash Street

• City of Fall River Municipal Parking Lot – Corner of Columbia St. & Hunter St.

• Talbot Middle School – Melrose Street

• Parking Lot – Hood Street

Winter Weather Advisory issued for parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut as forecasted snow totals increase

Residents are reminded of the following:

o Saving parking spots by placing furniture or household objects in the street is prohibited by law. Placing objects in the street to reserve a parking spot is punishable by fine.

o Utilize driveways and consider sharing off-street parking with neighbors.

o It is the responsibility of each homeowner to clear sidewalks of snow. Failure to do so is punishable by fine.

§ Do not throw snow into the street.

§ If there is a fire hydrant located near your property, please ensure that it is cleared so that emergency services can access the hydrant if needed. Please also ensure that catch basins are free of snow.

§ If you are willing to volunteer to shovel sidewalks for disabled or elderly residents, please contact the Mayor’s Office at 508-324-2600.
