City of Fall River to host Day of Recognition for the End of the Battle of Iwo Jima

FALL RIVER, MA – The City of Fall River Veterans’ Service Office invites the community to join in a solemn Day of Recognition for the End of the Battle of Iwo Jima on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Bicentennial Park. This special event will honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Marines and service members who fought in one of the most pivotal battles of World War II.
The ceremony will bring together veterans, military organizations, local officials, and community members to reflect on the historic significance of the Battle of Iwo Jima, which lasted from February 19 to March 26, 1945. The event will feature remarks from distinguished speakers, a moment of silence, and a tribute to those who fought valiantly in this critical conflict.
Members of the LCpl John Van Gyzen Detachment 1285, Marine Corps League, and other veteran organizations are especially encouraged to attend as the city recognizes the courage, resilience, and sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.
This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to join as we honor the Marines and service members who bravely defended freedom 80 years ago.
