With multiple inches of snow forecast, the City of Fall River instituted a parking ban over the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Fall River and surrounding communities received 4-5 inches of snow from Saturday into Sunday.

Fall River Reporter asked the Traffic Department if any tows or tickets were issued due to the parking ban.

During the parking ban period, which was in effect from Saturday at 5:00 p.m., to Sunday, at 12:00 p.m. a total of 1,020 parking violations were issued, and 12 vehicles were towed.

The City of Fall River advises all residents to adhere to the following guidelines during any parking ban:

  • Do not park within 20 feet of a corner or within 10 feet of a fire hydrant.
  • Parking is permitted on the north side of all streets running east and west, and on the west side of streets running north and south. In most cases, this means parking is not allowed on the side with fire hydrants.
  • Parking is allowed, unless otherwise posted, on both sides of any street divided by a traffic median. Parking against the median is prohibited.

If you are fined for violation of the parking ban, it will cost you $65.00.
