City of Fall River designates warming center for frigid temperatures
With more cold weather headed our way, the City of Fall River has designated a site for temporary warming throughout the winter.
According to a spokesperson for Mayor Coogan’s Office, on January 22nd, a temporary warming shelter will be open during the day.
Starting tomorrow, Christ of Rock Assembly of God Church on Rock Street will be hosting the City’s temporary warming shelter for the duration of the winter from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on any day with temperatures below 30° Fahrenheit.
Due to this announcement, the city will not be making announcements on when the warming center is open.
The First Step Inn and the Timao Center, Fall River’s overflow homeless shelter, are prepared to accommodate anyone in need of shelter. Those seeking services should contact the First Step Inn by calling 508-679-8001 or 508-974-9972. The First Step Inn is located at 134 Durfee Street, Fall River.
Those who have questions or want to confirm a warming center opening may call the Mayor’s Office at 508-324-2600 or check the city’s Facebook page.
