City of Fall River announces allocation of ARPA funds to be used for veterans in need of assistance
(FALL RIVER, MA-DECEMBER 1, 2023)- The City of Fall River has put aside a portion of the funding received from the American Rescue Plan Act to be used for veterans in need of assistance.
Funds would be used to create a need-based program for veterans to help with payments for utility, food, rent, medical and transportation.
Veterans must present a copy of their DD-214. Funds will be distributed on a need-based assistance.
According to the City of Fall River, twenty percent of the population in the city, which includes 800 veterans, are living below the poverty level. Chapter 115, a program that assists veterans with little income, only services one quarter of those veterans.
The Veterans Office stated that $250,000 of ARPA funds have been set aside so they can help approximately 165 people.
Veterans who wish to apply for assistance from this program can call the Fall River Veterans Services Office at 508-324-2432.
