City of Fall River announces activities to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month
(FALL RIVER, MA- October 4, 2022)- Mayor Paul Coogan, joined by the Greater Fall River Coalition Against Domestic Violence, has announced a series of actions to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Fall River.
On Thursday, October 6th, at noon, Mayor Coogan will be joined by Coalition members, survivors and other elected officials for a ceremonial flag raising. A proclamation will be read announcing October, officially, as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the City of Fall River. The ceremony is open to the public.
In addition, the Women’s Center at SSTAR and the GFR Coalition Against Domestic Violence have created an art installation in the Government Center Atrium. The installation is modelled off of the “Clothesline Project” used in communities across the country and features tee shirts designed by survivors and advocates. The public is invited to view the Clothesline
Project anytime during Government Center’s normal hours of operation at Government Center from October 5th through October 20th.
